The Phylmar Group, Inc. (Phylmar) brings together Fortune 1000 corporations with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) consultants. Through its web site, www.phylmar.com, the firm provides companies with access to its database of case studies and articles. Companies can use the search functionality to seek consultants with the specific experience needed for a given project. In addition, Phylmar sends out monthly electronic emails to its corporate audience, discussing current news, industry trends, case studies, and articles that are presented for practical use and general interest.

Phylmar provides a filter for both the client and the consultant. Time spent negotiating contracts which may or not be relevant to the task at hand – combined with the effort required to locate and validate the right partner is avoided using Phylmar as an intermediary. Once the project scope is communicated and understood, Phylmar sets up companies with the appropriate affiliate and skill-set necessary to get the job done.

Phylmar brings together a group of "affiliates" in the EHS field to represent a broad base of experience to an audience of corporate EHS personnel. These affiliates, typically small to medium size firms, become part of the Phylmar network. By sustaining a virtual bank of talent and experience, Phylmar is able to keep expenses down for the client by reducing its’ own overhead.

Phylmar maintains a skills matrix on each of its affiliates that is aggregated with the skills of all other affiliates into a single database. A portfolio on each affiliate is also maintained and updated on a regular basis, with articles and case summaries that best represent their capabilities. Once reviewed and cataloged by Phylmar, these case studies and articles are downloaded directly to the Phylmar web site for convenient retrieval and consideration by its corporate audience.

Searches on specific topics or strings of words can be automatically triggered using the "search" function that draws information directly from the database. A listing of all documents relating to the requested information is automatically returned to the client at no cost. If there is continued interest in any one specific area, or if the experience outlined is directly relevant to the client’s needs, Phylmar will follow up immediately or notify the appropriate affiliate for follow up. The referral service is offered at no cost to the client.

It may be easier and less risky for corporations to contract with consultants they have used previously. By using Phylmar as an intermediary, however, the corporation can obtain an unbiased referral they can trust, and they can select a consultant from a pool of affiliates best suited to handle their specific projects.

Phylmar maintains separate sub-contracting agreements with its affiliates. This allows client companies to negotiate and maintain one master agreement with Phylmar while using the services of one or more of its affiliates. This arrangement helps the client company avoid negotiating separate agreements with each individual affiliate. Phylmar has more than 20 years of industry contacts and a high profile reputation in the EHS field.
